Assessment Lien Date.  Property is assessed based upon its status on this date.

February 1   
Last Day to Submit to the Assessor the Cost of  Materials for improvements which were incomplete as of January 1. 

February 28

Last Day Prior Year County Taxes Are Payable Without Penalty.

February 28
Last day for the Assessor to make corrections in assessment errors for the tax year preceding the immediate past tax year.

March 1
Last Day to Submit Tangible Personal Property schedule to the Assessor of Property

March 1
Last day for taxpayer to File an Appeal for Preceding Year to the State Board of Equalization and Attempt to Demonstrate Reasonable Cause for not appealing to the County  Board of Equalization. 

March 1
Last day for taxpayer to file with the Assessor an Application for Agriculture Classification. 

May 20
Assessor usually sends notice of assessment changes to taxpayers

June 1
First day of the annual session of the Knox County Board of Equalization.

August 1
Appeals to the State Board of Equalization must be filed before this date or 45 days from the date of the County Board Notice whichever is the later date.

August 31
Last day for the Assessor to back assess any property for the preceding tax year. 

September 1
Last Day to File an Amended Tangible Personal Property Schedule for the Preceding Tax Year.

September 1
Any new construction completed past this date may not be prorated onto the current year tax roll from the completion date.
